Gooseberry Show, North Yorkshire: 1 August

Gooseberry show

Head to the North York Moors National Park this summer and join the Egton Bridge Old Gooseberry Society for the oldest gooseberry show in the country. For more than 200 years, local gardeners have competed to grow the largest fruits – in 2009, Champion grower Bryan Nellis did just that by producing the heaviest berry ever to be recorded in Britain. Head to the Gooseberry Show this August and witness more world record attempts.

BBC Countryfile Live, Oxfordshire: 3-6 August


Join John Craven, Ellie Harrison and the rest of the BBC Countryfile presenters at the stunning Blenheim Palace for his year's Countryfile Live. Sit back, relax and enjoy a magical outdoor screening of your favourite movie at The Summer Nights Film Festival. Watch Moulin Rouge, Star Wars, Pretty Woman, Dark Knight Rises and many more, all set within a range of beautiful heritage grounds from Nostell in Yorkshire to Blickling Estate in Norfolk. Longings Global Champions Tour, London: 4-6 August

Join the top show jumpers in the world – including our very own Olympic Team GB Riders – as they compete in Longings Global Champions Tour (LGCT), the 'Formula 1' of equestrian sport. The Tour will be heading to London having already enthralled spectators in Miami Beach, Shanghai, Monaco and Paris. The action-packed event will include a range of technical courses of fences up to 1.60m, and will feature Olympic gold medallist Scott Brash, among others. Find out more here.
