Falls of Clyde Visitor Centre and Wildlife Reserve, Lanarkshire
Owned and managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust, the spectacular waterfalls and riverside walks make for a perfect day out. With 59 hectares of woodland, the reserve is home to badgers, otters, bats and over 100 species of birds. Open all year round, it is just £2 entry for families.
The National Wetlands Centre Wales, Llanelli
Go on a canoe safari, see the pink Caribbean flamingos, or hire a bike and explore the vast grounds. Visit the Millennium Discovery Centre for some amazing panoramic views of the estuary.
Rutland Water Nature Reserve, Egleton, Leicestershire
With more than 20,000 waterfowl, the reserve is designated as a European Special Protection Area. The reservoir, wildlife garden and birdwatching centre are well worth a visit. Head there this Easter for fun environmental activities for children, or pay a visit for Spring Badger Watch.

Enjoy the organic, fairtrade produce in the café overlooking the beautiful lake or visit the Wildlife Garden with woodpeckers, tree sparrows and try to spot the rare bullfinches and rock doves. Baker's Pit nature reserve Cornwall
An old china clay works, the 111 acres of heathland features several footpaths, and open water in the flooded clay pit. With the engine house still standing, pay a visit this summer for the medium sized warbler the whitethroat and western gorse.
