The Countryfile Photographic Competition closed on 12 August - the final shortlist for the calendar has been chosen and the results will be shown on the Countryfile programme on 11 September.

The title is Best In Show and there were 12 classes to enter:

1. Wildlife
2. Insects and Spiders
3. In All Weathers
4. Working Animals
5. Leisure and Pleasure
6. The Lighter Side of Country Life
7. Plant life
8. Landscapes
9. Water Worlds
10. Farm Life

11. Birds
12. Country People

The best photo in each class, as chosen by the judging panel of John Craven, Chris Packham and Jo Brand, will feature on its own page in the 2012 Countryfile calendar, which is sold in aid of BBC Children In Need. Last year’s calendar raised almost £1.2m for the charity. And from those final 12 photographs, the programme viewers will vote for the Best In Show. The person who takes the winning photo, as voted for by Countryfile viewers, will choose from a range of the latest photography equipment to the value of £1,000. There’s another prize too: the person who takes the judges’ favourite photo will get to choose equipment to the value of £500.
