Where to celebrate Pancake Day

Get out your whisk and frying pan and take part in a flipping fun family event near you

Olney Pancake Race, Buckinghamshire, Tuesday, 11.45 am

Olney will be packed for the pancake race with hundreds lining the famous route from the Market Place to the parish church. The race starts just before noon but as the road closes, aim to be in place for 11.45 am. There are festivities in the Market Place beforehand and you can buy your pancake from the stall there. Pancake Race, Chiltern Gatesway Centre and Whipsnade Estate, Dunstable Downs, Tuesday, 11am

Join in with tradition, and flip your pancake on Dunstable Downs. Come along dressed in the traditional costume of the housewife, including a skirt, apron and head covering. With your frying pan at the ready, take part in their first ever pancake race.

 

Pancake Tea, Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire, Tuesday, 3pm

Enjoy Pancake Day - sweet or savoury style. No booking required.

 

Fancy a Fling, Hive Beach, Dorset, Tuesday, 11am

Fancy a fling on Pancake Day? Then Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock is the place to be. TThe race starts at 11am and spectators are welcome. Teams of four can enter; you just need your own pans, they will supply the pancakes. Fancy dress is optional. For more details visit the Jurassic Coast website. The winning team will receive the 'Golden Whisk' trophy which can be kept until the next Pancake Day Challenge in 2012.
