Get active this summer with walking challenges in Wales
So here are Quentin's three walking challenges. If you’re in Wales this summer have a go and tell us how you get on. All the distances given below are one way – but you can catch the bus there or back or double your fun – and the challenge – by walking both ways! The magnificent views are different in each direction.
THIRD: Sand dunes and seaside delights
Discover the beautiful 4.5 mile section of the north coast between Talacre Beach and Prestatyn. You can't miss the picturesque Point of Ayr lighthouse before exploring the lengthy Talacre Beach and a rich dune habitat. Then indulge yourself in the traditional seaside delights of Prestatyn with its wonderful beaches.
SECOND: Escape from the City
The mighty Glamorgan Heritage Coast, between Cardiff and Swansea, offers a chance to escape city life and get back in touch with nature. Try the 6.2 mile stretch between Ogmore by Sea and Nash Point where stunning beaches and exciting geology create a landscape that demands your attention. (Shorter routes are possible!)
FIRST: Go wild on gorgeous Gower
Explore the dramatic coastline which lies between Rhossili and Port Eynon. Rich in wildlife and with a varied landscape you’ll feel like a champion after this 7.5 mile walk. Follow the coast path past the dramatic serpent-shaped promontory of Worm's Head and through National Trust land, much of which is remote, rugged and wild.
What do you think? Reckon you can crack them? Let us know how you get on in the comments below!
