Basking shark tagging project
A collaboration between Scottish Natural Heritage and the University of Exeter, this project aims to uncover some of the mysteries of the UK’s largest species of fish.
 
The Scottish Beaver Trial
The trial started in Knapdale in 2009, to run for five years. It will indicate whether beaver reintroductions will be feasible for Scotland in general.
 
Campaign against neonicotinoids
Buglife has been one of the most vocal conservation groups to call for a ban on insecticides called neonicotinoids because of the impact they are believed to have on invertebrates – and honeybees in particular.
