Snowdon Mountain Railway

Take a once in a lifetime adventure in 2020 and travel to Snowdon summit on the Snowdon Mountain Railway, which has been described as one of the most wonderful railway journeys in the world. Since 1896 visitors have been travelling to Llanberis to experience this unique journey to the summit of the highest mountain in Wales and England .

From the first views of the waterfall plunging into the gorge below at the start of the journey, to the breath-taking sights over the sheer edge of the Rocky Valley, every moment is memorable. One of the world’s greatest panoramas is revealed at the summit. Hafod Eryri, the UK’s highest visitor centre, has spectacular panoramic views to the valleys below. You can venture to the cairn, where on clear days the views can stretch as far as Ireland. From the summit 1,085m above sea level, both young and old can embrace the invigorating atmosphere of Eryri – Land of the Eagles.

Two services are available, the Heritage Steam Experience and Traditional Diesel Service. The railway operates from mid-March until the end of October. In the early part of the season (March and April) trains run to Clogwyn, ¾ distance up the mountain.
