  1. Prince William is named after the King's cousin Prince William of Gloucester, who died on 28 August 1972 in a plane crash.
  2. He is related to World War II Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Both the modern Spencer and Churchill families are direct descendants of John and Sarah Churchill, the 1st Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, through their daughter, Anne Churchill.
  3. When he becomes King he will be the fifth King William. The last King William was the uncle of Queen Victoria and reigned from 1830-1837.
