I’m always on the lookout for lightweight camping options, things I can just throw in the car at the last minute that don’t require superhuman strength or loads of room. OLPRO is a brand that champions sustainability and high quality camping gear, and I thought I’d test out its extremely lightweight Folding Chair to see how it held up.

Why not take a look at our guide to the best camping chairs.

Design and Portability

The OLPRO Folding Chair is incredibly lightweight at only 2.15kg, and can easily be carried around using the useful handles on the top, that can be held together with a velcro strap for an even more convenient experience, and to stop the chair from falling open when in transit.

Folded up, its dimensions are only 6.5 x 54 x 90cm and despite its light weight and thin frame, it has a max weight allowance of 120kg, which is the same as another OLPRO chair three times its weight.

It’s a good looking chair, and the bamboo arm rests are a nice touch, perfect for sitting around a campfire or a day at the beach. It’s very easy to set up, you just unfold it.

Comfort and Support

The handles are useful, however, the one across the lap of the chair can be a little uncomfortable on the legs. Despite this, the chair is surprisingly comfortable for such a lightweight option, and the arm rests are a good height and add to the comfort levels.

The ergonomic design across the backrest and seat ensure that the support is good, making it suitable for extended periods of sitting.

The ergonomic design means your back and legs feel well supported.

Durability and Materials

The lightweight chair is made with 100% polyester oxford, which is polyester cotton blended yarn interwoven with cotton yarn which has the advantage of being moisture proof (so no mildew when it’s left out overnight), easy to clean, and anti-tear.

The frame is aluminium which feels sturdy and durable despite its light weight, and the bamboo armrests look good and feel high quality.

Value for Money

At £95.00 this isn’t the cheapest option on the market for a lightweight chair, however, this one doesn’t compromise on durability and comfort.

Sustainability

While there is no mention of sustainable fabrics or processes in this specific model, OLPRO is one of only a handful of companies to be certified as a B Corporation – which is given to businesses that meet high standards of  verified social and environmental performance.

It also has OLTECH REPRO – tent canvas made from recycled plastic bottles and also donate canvas that can’t be used to a company called Retribe who re-make it into a range of products.

Should You Buy It?

If you’re looking for a durable, lightweight camping chair that will last you a lot more than one summer, yes.
