A decent pair of gloves is make-or-break for outdoor activities once winter comes, and this reviewer is particularly fussy when it comes to his hands! Too chunky and they get in the way; too snug and they’re annoying to get on and off. So the Montane Fury Fleece have a tough task ahead to meet with approval. But – and here’s the spoiler – they made my hands feel very happy indeed.

Full-finger and, as the name suggests, lined with fury fleece, these gloves fit like, well, a glove. I have big hands, so went for the XL, which is generous without being baggy. Made mainly from ThermoStretch and polyester, there’s plenty of give to get them on and off quickly, but in my experience, once they’re on, they’re staying on.

Lightweight and lean, it’s pretty easy to do most things with these on – including awkward zips on multiple layers, and, thanks to the touch-screen-compatible forefinger and thumb tips, easy to use my phone to check the weather. They have slightly elasticated wrists, which is great for keeping the draught out but the blood flowing!
They boast excellent moisture management – I didn’t have any issues with them absorbing water during some cold and rainy outings – and they’re machine washable.
Oh, and did I mention they’re super warm and comfy?
Value For Money
£30 doesn’t feel a lot to pay for a decent pair of gloves these days, and these should last for a good few seasons.
Sustainability
The gloves are OEKO-TEX certified, and made from 51% Polyester (Recycled), 39% Nylon, 10% Elastane.
Should You Buy Them?
For extreme conditions, you’ll want something more highly spec’d, but as a general warm and comfortable all-rounder, you could do a lot worse.
