Three Things To Know:
- Setup Is Easy But Not Instant – The inflatable AirFrame system makes pitching far simpler than traditional pole tents, but it still takes around 25–30 minutes for one person
- Comfort Over Capacity – While it’s marketed for four people, it’s much more comfortable for two or three, especially if you want space for gear and a bit of room to move around
- Weight And Portability – At around 34 kg, it’s heavier than most smaller tents, so it’s best suited for car camping rather than lugging across long distances

The Boracay FTC 401 TC inflatable tent claims to combine functionality with ease of use, featuring Air Frame technology for quick setup and breathable polycotton fabric. I took the Boracay tent on a camping trip to North Devon to see how it held up, and whether it could endear me to inflatable tents.

Setup and Portability
The first thing I will say about this tent is for a four person tent, it’s really, really heavy. At 33.77kg, I was just about able to carry it up the stairs to the car, which for a four man tent is heavy. Equally, when packed down it does take up a lot of space.
Despite its weight, The Dometic Boracay FTC 401 TC is a premium four-person inflatable tent designed for campers who want comfort without the hassle of traditional pole setups. Built with durable polycotton fabric for breathability and weather resistance, it uses Dometic’s Multi-Point AirFrame system, allowing quick inflation and stable structure in minutes. Offering full standing height, a spacious living area, and a clever rear storage compartment, it’s well-suited for couples or small families looking for a mix of practicality and luxury.
Build and Materials
The Dometic Boracay FTC 401 TC is made from Weathershield™ TC polycotton fabric, a cotton–polyester blend that improves breathability and reduces condensation compared to standard polyester tents. The inflatable frame uses 12 cm TPU air tubes within polyester sleeves, designed to give the tent stability without the need for poles. A sewn-in polyethylene groundsheet provides protection from damp ground and insects, and reinforced pegging points add strength in windier conditions.
However, the same polycotton fabric that improves comfort also makes the tent heavier and bulkier to transport, and it takes longer to dry if it gets wet. The TPU air tubes are reliable but require multiple inflation points, so setup is not quite as quick as single-point systems. While the groundsheet and zips feel sturdy, the overall weight of around 34 kg may be challenging if the pitch is far from your car. In short, the build quality is strong and geared toward comfort, but it comes with trade-offs in portability and convenience.

Comfort and Usability
The Dometic Boracay FTC 401 TC is surprisingly comfortable and easy to live in once it’s up – with about 2 metres of standing height, you don’t feel hunched over moving around inside, which makes a big difference on longer trips. I liked that it has a main sleeping area plus a rear storage section – so everything stays organised and out of the way. The large mesh windows and vents keep the air flowing – so it doesn’t get stuffy – and the small awning gives a bit of sheltered space outside if it’s drizzling.
That said, even though it’s advertised for four people, I found it way comfier for two or three – especially if you’ve got sleeping mats or extra gear inside. It’s also a bit on the heavy side – so moving it around once packed isn’t the easiest – and the sewn-in groundsheet is great for keeping things dry but makes airing or cleaning the tent a bit fiddly. Overall, it’s a solid, roomy tent – one that really shines when you’re car camping and don’t mind the extra weight.

Accessories and Add-Ons
The tent comes with spacious rear storage for bulkier items, and has significant space at the front to sit in if it’s raining or cold. There is also a storage rack in between the bedrooms which is good for storing small, easily lost, items.
The Sleep-Tite bedrooms are also a nice touch, and the inner tents use dark materials to block out early morning sunlight.
Value For Money
At £1,440.00 this is a big investment. If you’re happy to carry the weight then it’s a great tent, but lighter options for less are available.
