Meet the team

Group editor: Paul McGuinness

As the editor of BBC Countryfile Magazine and BBC Wildlife, I’m lucky to spend my days with a talented team of knowledgeable and passionate countryside fanatics. So when I’m not in the office, I can mostly be found out and about somewhere with my son looking to see what creatures and plants we can discover.

Matt Baird, Managing Editor

Matt is BBC Countryfile Magazine's Managing Editor, the former editor of Cycling Plus and the author of Triathlon! from Aurum Press. He officially became more Cornish Pasty than man in 2014.

Matt also helps coordinate our gear reviews for print and web.

Alex Hughes, Digital Editor

Alex is the Digital Editor for Countryfile.com. He was previously found at BBC Science Focus. When he’s not obsessing over data and web content, Alex can be found in one of Bristol’s many climbing gyms or going for a long run.

Debbie Graham, Group Digital Lead

Debbie is the Group Digital Lead of countryfile.com and our sister title discoverwildlife.com. Former veterinary nurse Debbie Graham is passionate about animals and the countryside. Growing up in the Lake District, surrounded by animals, she likes nothing better than taking to the fells - via foot, bike or horse – accompanied by a dog, of course.

Margaret Bartlett, Production Editor

Margaret is BBC Countryfile Magazine's Production Editor. She lives in Cardiff, a fair distance from her home town of Wellington, New Zealand. When not checking copy for typos, she enjoys walks in the Welsh countryside and along its beautiful coastline, cycling, running, yoga, foraging and a bit of indulgent baking too.

James Cutmore Group Visual Editor

James Cutmore, Group Visual Editor

James is the Group Visual Editor for BBC Countryfile Magazine, as well as its sister titles BBC Wildlife and BBC Science Focus. He has worked as a picture editor for over two decades, telling compelling science and nature stories through the use of striking imagery. He has judged for Nikon Small World, The Wellcome Trust, The Siena Photography Awards and the Royal Photographic Society.

Lily Watts Picture Researcher

Lily Watts, Picture Researcher

Lily is the Picture Researcher across BBC Countryfile Magazine, BBC Wildlife and BBC Science Focus. In her Photojournalism degree, she specialised in social documentary reportage and has a keen eye for uncovering compelling visual narratives from fresh and thought-provoking perspectives. Outside of work, Lily likes to spend her time outdoors – whether that’s nurturing her garden or exploring nature on long hikes.

Stacey Black, Creative Design Lead

Stacey is the Creative Design Lead across both BBC Countryfile and BBC Wildlife. She lives in Bristol and spends her spare time cooking, reading, exploring the city and discovering new places to eat good food. She also loves weekends at the beach, which is a nice reminder of growing up at the seaside in the not-so-frozen North East.

Lauren Mulhearn, Creative Designer

Lauren is the Creative Designer for BBC Countryfile Magazine and BBC Wildlife, based in Bristol. When she’s not bringing stories to life in print, she’s gardening, playing football, or heading to a gig. She also loves tracking down Bristol’s best food spots.
