Also in easy reach is St Austell and the Eden Project.
Best Glamping Site: East Thorne, Cornwall
Looking for a little bit of luxury? Set in the Cornish countryside just ten minutes from Bude is East Thorne and its beautiful selection of glamping roundhouses. Hot tub? You bet! Guests also have their own ensuite and fire pit. There are plenty of other things on site to keep you entertained, including a wood-fired clay oven, climbing frame and seasonal animal feeding. This is a superb spot for both couples and families.
Best Family Campsite: Wooda Farm Holiday Park, Cornwall
This family owned site (the Colwill family, to be more exact) has been going since 1975. The holiday park sits on a gently rolling hillside a mile and a half from the seaside town of Bude, making it a great spot for outdoor explorers. After a day on the coast, head back to Wooda where there is an excellent bar, tennis courts, fishing and even a pitch 'n' putt golf. Visit in summer and you'll have the added bonus of archery and tractor rides.
Best Adult Only Site: Longnor Wood Holiday Park, Derbyshire
Heading to the Peak District and in need of a place to stay? Longnor Wood Holiday Park, a site reserved exclusively for adults, is set in the heart of the national park, less than half an hour's drive from Buxton, Bakewell, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. The park is surrounded by open countryside and offers hardstanding tent and touring pitches, ensuite glamping pods, caravans with hot tubs and hot tub lodges. Is it dog-friendly? Sure is! There's even a dog wash and dog exercise field.
Most Unique Site: Living Room Treehouses, Powys, Wales
Do you ever watch George Clarke's Amazing Spaces and think, "I wouldn't mind pitching up at one of these places for a couple of nights"? Well, at Living Room Treehouses on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, you can do just that. This incredible collection of off-grid treehouses recently appeared on the show. Remote and simple, with a touch of magic, the canopy-high lodges are an excellent option for families and couples seeking a romantic escape.
Best Budget Campsite: Boskenwyn Manor, Cornwall
Peaceful, off-grid and back to the basics – the message at Boskenwyn is very simple. Set on the outskirts of South Cornwall not far from Porthleven and Helston, Boskenwyn Manor is a super spot for anyone looking to escape to the countryside for a few quiet days. The site is suitable for tents, caravans and motorhomes on a small yet well-spaced selection of grassy pitches.
Top Dog Award: Buckland Farm Camping, Somerset
Dog-friendly campsites aren't always easy to come by, but if you're heading to the Somerset hills, look no further than Buckland Farm. Found at the foot of the Blackdown Hills, the campsite is perfectly located for a foray into the Quantock Hills and Exmoor National Park, so there's plenty to explore around the site.
