Who is Robert Macfarlane?
Robert Macfarlane is a British writer, known for his work on nature, landscapes and people. He has written books, as well as for documentary films including Mountain and River.
His grandfather was the diplomat, climber and author Sir Edward Peck. He was on the council for the National Trust for Scotland and was elected to the world's first mountaineering club, The Alpine Club, in 1944.
