There are many travel mugs out there on the market, and the best ones, for me, keep drinks hot, cold, are entirely leak-proof, and in this case, keeps drinks fizzy!

I have to say, I was slightly dubious about the Ninja's ability to live up to its claims of keeping ice for up two days, however, to my relief, the Ninja Thirsti 700ml Travel Bottle feels seriously premium: the triple‑wall stainless steel feels solid but not too bulky, and the LeakLock lid reassures me that fizz or coffee won’t spill in my bag. Plus, Ninja claims it keeps cold drinks for up to 24 hours, hot drinks for around 12, which sounded almost too good to be true. After using it for my daily commute and weekend adventures, I've made up my mind about the Ninja Thirsti.

Heat / Cold Retention

Everyone I talk to these days either has, or wants, a Ninja product, and the Thirsti 700 ml travel bottle was the first Ninja product I’ve tried myself, so I was keen to see if it lived up to the hype. I used it daily, but also put it through some targeted tests, leaving hot, iced, and fizzy drinks in the bottle for the periods it claims to handle. For heat retention, I was impressed — I left a hot coffee in overnight, and it was still just about warm enough to enjoy in the morning. Fizzy drinks were also impressive with the BubbleLock technology, a feature I haven’t seen in other bottles, thanks to the smooth interior with fewer nucleation points which can cause bubbles to escape.

Ninja offers this piece of advice on its website, "to maintain extra fizz in your drink, never fill past the maximum capacity, replace the cap after drinking and avoid overly shaking the bottle." Ice retention, however, was less remarkable. The ice in my iced coffee lasted about two hours on my drive from Bristol to London, which is fine for shorter trips, but falls short of the two-day claim.

Design and Portability

In terms of design, the Thirsti feels seriously well thought-out — it’s made from triple‑wall stainless steel, which gives it a solid, premium feel without being overly chunky. According to Ninja, the 700 ml version measures about 25 cm tall with a base width of 8.1 × 8.8 cm and weighs around 420 g. I really like the ergonomic touches: there are two grip grooves on the sides, so it doesn’t slip when my hands are wet or sweaty.

The lid snaps shut securely and feels durable, and there’s a smooth, rounded spout that makes drinking comfortable, however, it is quite wide so there is potential to spill. It’s also compatible with my car cup holders (the base diameter is about 8 cm), so it’s very practical for my commute. Despite being a full 700 ml, it’s still very portable: the insulation keeps its outer wall cool enough to handle. It's large but not too bulky, although some might want to go with the smaller 530ml version.

Leak Proofness

I'm sure I speak for a lot of people when I describe the intense irritation I feel when something leaks in my bag. I can safely say the Ninja Thirsti has never let me down in that respect, with a tough lid to prevent spills, leaks and drips, no matter what your day has in store. The lid keeps your drink sealed in, with a rubber gasket and sturdy mechanism for extra protection.

Durability

Honestly, the Thirsti feels really solid — the triple-layer 18/8 (304) stainless steel body resists dents and scratches surprisingly well for a bottle I carry everywhere. Even the lid, made from BPA-free plastic with a rubber gasket, seems rugged and well-built. Ninja backs it up with a 5‑year guarantee, which gives me real confidence that they stand by its build quality. That said, some users have reported occasional issues — the seal can degrade over time, or certain units may stop dispensing properly after extended use. So while it’s definitely built to last, I’d advise treating it with a bit of care and keeping your receipt or registering for that warranty.

It's also dishwasher safe, but Ninja suggests handwashing it with warm, soapy water, and you can remove the gasket from the lid for a deeper s

Value for Money

At £34.99 RRP the Thirsti isn't cheap, however there are much more expensive bottles on the market, that aren't as durable and don't claim to be able to maintain fizzy drinks.

Sustainability

With a 5 year warranty this is a bottle that's built to last and keep you from buying disposable bottles again, and the lid is made from BPA‑free plastic, which reduces exposure to harmful chemicals - and feels more responsible than cheap single-use alternatives.

It’s also dishwasher safe, and the removable gaskets make it easier to clean well, which helps extend its lifespan. On the downside, there isn’t much info from Ninja on how “green” their production process is, and eventually, the plastic lid parts will wear, which raises questions about end-of-life recycling. Still, overall it’s a solid, eco-friendlier choice for staying hydrated sustainably.

Should You Buy It

If you covet a Ninja product this could be your gateway item. It's large, stylish and effective.
