Netflix's House of Guinness brings the family behind the world's most famous brewery to the small screen – but where is the series filmed?

Four siblings, the death of a patriarch and one epic family legacy: upcoming Netflix TV series House of Guinness surely has all the makings of a nail-biting drama. Created by Steven Knight (who is also responsible for Peaky Blinders), the TV show is expected to be released on 25 September.

House of Guinness begins with the immediate fallout after the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness – the man responsible for the iconic Irish brewery's enormous success. But now it's up to the next generation to navigate this inheritance, whilst dealing with secrets of their own. Set amongst the streets and mansions of 19th-century Dublin and New York, we take a look at the filming locations for the series.

Filming took place around Liverpool, including St George’s Hall and William Brown Street, where signs reading 'Vote for Mr Arthur Guinness' and even an orchestra could be seen. Other scenes were filmed at Stanley Dock and the country estate Croxteth Hall.

Greater Manchester

Manchester's Northern Quarter is likely to stand in for 19th-century Dublin after market stalls, carts and carriages were spotted during filming on Dale Street. Cast and crew were also gathered at Stockport's Underbanks, which is part of its historic old town. The Manchester Evening News reported that the blues bar Cracked Actor (on Little Underbank) was transformed into The Oak pub. Scenes were also filmed at Grade I-listed St Mary's Church where a tombstone with the name 'Benjamin Lee Guinness' could be seen.

It's thought that filming also took place at National Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port, after locals received letters notifying them of filming taking place for a "new eight-part drama series currently filming around Liverpool and Manchester" by Kudos Productions – the production company behind House of Guinness and Peaky Blinders. Filming at a Cheshire mansion also took place, with photographs of actor Louis Partridge being shared online, although it's currently unconfirmed which one.
