Discover the filming locations used for Outlander: Blood of My Blood, the prequel series to the hit historical TV drama

The wait is finally over, as Outlander: Blood of My Blood is finally being released. And the prequel to the steamy time-travelling historical drama has already been confirmed for a second series – we cannot wait.

Outlander: Blood of My Blood follows the parents of Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp (the couple which the original series focuses on); Jamie's in 18th century Scotland and Claire's during World War I.

And judging by the trailer, Claire isn't the only one who can time travel...

Glasgow's Park District, particularly Park Circus, was used for filming. Park Gardens, which borders Kelvingrove Park, was also closed for around a week.

Luss Estate, Loch Lomond

Production crews turned part of the Luss Estate, on the shores of Loch Lomond, into a historic Highland settlement, with plenty of extras and even horse-drawn carts. It's a popular filming location, with ITV drama Karen Pirie and Netflix's Outlaw King (based on Robert the Bruce's fight to reclaim Scotland from English forces) also set there.

Midhope Castle, Queenferry

Midhope Castle becomes Lallybroch, Jamie Fraser's ancestral home, in Outlander – so it's no wonder that it was also used for filming as the Fraser family roots are explored. However, the category A listed building is not open to the public.

Doune Castle appears in Outlander as Castle Leoch, the fictional seat of Clan MacKenzie. The medieval stronghold saw military action during the Jacobite risings of the late 17th century and 18th century, and we named it one of the UK's most impressive castles.
