OLPRO has been making a name for itself since it started in 2011 for creating outdoor equipment that combines quality and sustainability, and is one of only a handful of British camping manufacturers to become certified as a B Corporation. This is a certification by B Lab – a non-profit organisation focused on transforming the global economy for people, communities and the planet – signifying high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.
If you’re tired of flimsy, cramped camping chairs that cut off the circulation in your legs, or just want to add a bit more luxury into your camping experience, the OLPRO Olympus XL camping chair might be your new throne. Here’s how I found it.

- Weight: 7.4kg
- Materials: High strength foldable steel and heavy duty padded polyester

Design and Portability
For a larger, more luxurious chair, the OLPRO Olympus XL camping chair is impressively portable. It weighs only 7.4kg, and comes with its own carrying bag with shoulder strap which makes it easy to lug into the garden, around a festival or across a campsite. It also has a handy strap that pulls it together when it needs to go back in the bag, making the dreaded campsite pack-up just that little bit easier.
When unfolded the chair is 98 x 79 x 62cm, and folded away its 98 x 25 x 30cm, which while bulkier than other models, is impressively easy to pack away and carry.
The bucket style seat is large enough to curl up, perfect for an evening by the campfire, and the armrests sturdy and supportive, and incorporate a handy insulated cup holder that will help keep drinks warm or cold.

Comfort and Support
This is a really comfortable chair, much more comfortable than the minimal ones I’m used to. You really can just curl up and fall asleep in Olympus XL. The extra wide seat with its ergonomic design and lumbar support, and generous padding make you feel cocooned and enable you to sink back and unwind.
The support is equally impressive. The reinforced steel frame gives the chair a reassuring sturdiness, while the high backrest provides ample support for shoulders and upper back.
With a 130kg weight limit, the chair feels stable and secure, catering well to users who need a more robust option without compromising on comfort.

Durability and Materials
This feels like a chair built to last, with the high quality I’ve come to expect from OLPRO products. The robust steel frame doesn’t wobble at all when you move around in the seat
The seat and padding are made from hardwearing polyester fabric, chosen for both comfort and resilience. The material is tough enough to resist scuffs and snags while still feeling soft to the touch. Thanks to its reinforced stitching, stress points such as the joints and armrest areas are less likely to give out over time, even with heavier use.
While the chair isn’t fully weatherproof – leaving it out in the rain will shorten its lifespan –the combination of durable fabric, quality padding, and a heavy-duty frame makes it far sturdier than many budget camping chairs. Treated with a little care, it’s the kind of kit that should serve reliably for multiple seasons.

Value for Money
At £107.00 this chair isn’t considered cheap, but for the quality and amazing comfort this would be a great investment at a reasonable price.
Sustainability
While there is no mention of sustainable fabrics or processes in this specific model, OLPRO is one of only a handful of companies to be certified as a B Corporation – which is given to businesses that meet high standards of verified social and environmental performance.
It also has OLTECH REPRO – tent canvas made from recycled plastic bottles and also donate canvas that can’t be used to a company called Retribe who re-make it into a range of products.
Should You Buy It?
If you’re looking for reasonably priced, durable and well made camping chair that will add a bit of luxury to your trip, yes!
