In 1975, a young King Charles completed a Canadian Arctic ice dive as part of a royal tour like no other.
Now in a new documentary, Steve Backshall’s Royal Arctic Challenge, broadcast on ITV on Thursday 18 December, the King will reflect on the tour with presenter and environmentalist Steve Backshall.
Backshall will also complete a dive as part of the programme, which retraces the steps of the then-prince.
Along the way, Backshall explores the changes that have happened in the Arctic environment since, and discusses them with King Charles. The pair also look back at archival footage, such as the clip below.
