As someone who loves being in any type of water – but gets cold easily – I was looking for a lightweight dry robe I could just throw in my bag and warm myself up after a dip in the sea, lake or river.
The Zone3 Microfibre Changing Robe is a lightweight and quick drying alternative to the classic fleece-lined dry robe, making it a handy piece of kit for anyone who wants a post swim cover up for warmth or changing without the bulk.
Zone3 was founded by elite triathlete James Lock in 2006 during his time at Loughborough University. Zone3’s ethos is deeply rooted in the discipline of swimming, cycling and running, and the brand strives to create products that support athletes at all levels – whether they’re chasing a personal best or dipping their toes into the sport for the first time.

Design and Features
I took the Zone3 Microfibre Dry Robe down over to Weymouth for a day of swimming and kayaking around Durdle Door, where despite being a hot day, after a couple of hours swimming around I was in need of a coverup when I got out of the sea.
The design is impressively lightweight, at just under 1kg, easy to fold and easy to pack into a small day backpack. Despite its lightweight, it offers great coverage so as well as being able to easily towel dry my whole body, the robe was long and spacious enough (approx 104 cm length × 87 cm width) to get changed under.
Due to its thinner materials, it’s possible that with sustained use and washing this dry robe might show signs of wear quickly.
The spacious hood added welcome warmth on windy days, and the body felt completely windproof too, while the large front pocket was handy for keeping my hands warm and stashing small items.

Performance
The Zone3 Microfibre Changing Robe truly impressed me with its performance. The 200gsm microfibre fabric is not only lightweight but also highly absorbent, allowing me to dry off quickly after a swim. I found it particularly effective in wicking moisture away, keeping me comfortable during chilly post-swim moments. Its quick-drying nature meant I could pack it away without worrying about dampness, making it ideal for spontaneous outdoor adventures.
Value for Money
At only £29.00 this is a fantastic and affordable addition to your kit bag as a lightweight dry robe for spring and summer dips.
Sustainability
While there’s no mention of sustainable materials used in this item, Zone3 says on its website that it’s making steps towards becoming “industry leaders in what it means to explore and embrace the world we live in with products that are designed with you and the planet in mind.”
Should You Buy It?
This is a great affordable lightweight dry robe that really helps keep you warm after a dip. It’s weight and quick-dry fabric means it’s a good option for the swimming pool too.
