The murder-mystery solving priest, Father Brown, has become rather a favourite with TV viewers. Based on the short stories written by G. K. Chesterton, the TV series began in 2013 and since then has been a regular on our screens.
Where is Father Brown set?
Father Brown is set in the Cotswolds during the 1950s. Father Brown is the Roman Catholic Priest of the fictional Cotswold village of Kembleford, which seems to have more than its fair share of dramas - perhaps even rivalling the equally fictional Midsomer.
Where is Father Brown filmed?
Given it is set in the Cotswolds, it seems right that Father Brown is largely filmed in the Cotswolds.
The Gloucestershire village of Blockley doubles up as Kembleford with the village's Church of St Peter and St Paul becoming Father Brown's St Mary Roman Catholic Church, while the vicarage is used as his presbytery.
The fictional St Vincent's Convent, where Sister Boniface resides, is filmed at Princethorpe College, a Catholic independent day school near Rugby.
Father Brown's kitchen, a familiar set where many of the cases are discussed over cake, is filmed at former Moreton-in-Marsh hospital along with his study and Kembleford’s police station.
Other locations that have featured include Guiting Power, Upper Slaughter, Winchcombe Railway Station, Broughton Castle, Stanway House and many more.
Remember the model village episode? That was filmed at Bourton-on-the-Water's model village. While One of the Cotswold's most iconic sights, Broadway Tower was used as Helmsley Tower' in The Tower of Lost Souls episode.
Where is the latest series of Father Brown filmed?
Series 13 of Father Brown has also introduced different locations to more-familiar sights, with actor Mark Williams (who plays the titular character) saying “My Dad was a surveyor and taught me how to look at buildings, not just their architecture but how they were used, and why they were where they are. So one of the constant pleasures of filming Father Brown for me is the places we film in, and I always have the relevant Pevsner’s ‘Buildings of England’ book to hand. This year, our 13th, has been a great year for interesting locations.” Here are just some of them:
