Now into its 12th year on TV, Countryfile Ramble will soon be back onto your screens, helping raise money for BBC Children in Need. This year will be packed with big name hosts and will air on BBC One on Sunday 25 October.
The group of presenters will be joined by five young people who have been supported by BBC Children in Need funded projects, undertaking walks through the Peak District together.
Along with beautiful views of the countryside, the event will dive into the challenges these children have faced, showing how support from BBC Children in Need can help children overcome their obstacles and reach a brighter future.
"What I love most about Countryfile Ramble is meeting remarkable children and young people and hearing their stories. This year, we'll be shining a light on the incredible impact that support can have, and how having somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to can make a difference,” said Countryfile presenter John Craven.
“Every child needs someone by their side, especially when times are tough. BBC Children in Need are working to make sure no child has to face life's challenges alone.”
What is Countryfile Ramble?
Countryfile Ramble is one of the many BBC Children in Need events that happens every year, helping raise money for the charity. Now into its 12th year, the Ramble is an event where people across the UK come together to walk and raise money.
Along with the TV episode, plenty of people around the country will be doing their own walks.
Since the Countryfile Ramble for BBC Children in Need launched in 2015, thousands of supporters across the UK have come together to raise more than £17.4 million, helping fund life-changing support for children and young people when they need it most.
Can I do my own BBC Children in Need ramble?
One of the key concepts of the TV show is that it isn’t just celebrities getting involved! You can organise your own Ramble and help raise money yourself. It’s very simple to do:
Plot your route
Wherever you are in the UK, there are plenty of incredible walking routes. If you're short of ideas, check out our walks section to find routes near you or even further afield. You might ramble along a beach, in a National Park or even with your dog – the choice is yours.
Recruit your ramblers
Good company turns a regular walk into a great walk, so bring along friends, family, pets and the rest. What will entice them to take part? Think cake at the half way point, a spectacular view or a pub stop along the way (here's some inspiration).
Start fundraising
Don't forget to get your friends and family to donate to BBC Children in Need, which raises money every year to help disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. You can set up a JustGiving page via the BBC website, as well as make a donation yourself.
Ramble!
Grab your walking boots and snacks and a drink and head to the hills for your ramble. Make sure you pack snacks and plenty to drink, plus warm and wet-weather gear for the changeable weather.
