The upcoming movie adaptation of the bestselling murder-mystery novel The Thursday Murder Club will finally be on our screens later this year.
Richard Osman's debut book about a group of crime-solving pensioners has been picked up by Steven Spielberg's production company, with the film being released on Netflix on 28 August 2025. But while much of the story is set in the fictional care home Cooper's Chase (in the equally fictitious town of Fairhaven, Kent), where was it actually filmed?
Where was The Thursday Murder Club filmed?
The Thursday Murder Club was filmed around Hertfordshire and Berkshire. Filming took place between June–September 2024.
Aldbury, Hertfordshire
Aldbury was transformed into the fictional village of Fairhaven, with the Memorial Hall turned into the police station where DCI Chris Hudson and PC Donna De Freitas work.
Englefield Estate, Berkshire
The Elizabethan country house Englefield Estate was used as the setting for luxurious care home Cooper's Chase. It's previously been used for filming The Crown (where it appeared as the royal residence Sandringham Estate), The King's Speech and Agatha Christie's Marple.
Gaddesden Place, Hertfordshire
Interior scenes set in Cooper's Chase were also filmed at the Grade II-listed Gaddesden Place.
Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire
Stratton Road in Beaconsfield was closed for a day due to filming, with a resident telling local newspaper Bucks Free Press that a car chase was expected to be filmed. The Red Lion pub was also closed for filming interior and exterior scenes.
Shepperton Studios, Surrey
Sets were built at Shepperton Studios for the film. The studios have also been used to film Bridgerton, the Harry Potter film series and Atonement.
