The much-awaited second series of Ridley is back on our screens, with Adrian Dunbar reprising his role as consultant detective Alex Ridley.
The ITV crime drama focuses on the titular retired police consultant Alex Ridley who is brought back into the force to help his former protégé DI Carol Farman, now leading an investigations team of her own. Each episode follows the team as they work to solve a case, with Ridley continuing to process the death of his wife and daughter – as well as singing at the nearby jazz bar he co-owns.
Where is Ridley filmed?
Ridley is filmed across northern England in the Greater Manchester area.
Mossley, Tameside
Ridley is set in the fictional town of Framley – but Mossley, a town in the upper Tame Valley and in the foothills of the Pennine, is used for filming scenes for Framley.
Bolton
The recognisable Le Mans Crescent building in Bolton is used as Framley's police station. It now houses the Bolton Museum (which bought the now-infamous Amarna Princess) and library, but has previously been used as police headquarters – and it's thought to still contain cells and custody suites. Other parts of the building were used as the jazz bar Marlings.
Watergrove Reservoir, Rochdale
Ridley's waterside home is near Watergrove Reservoir, in Wardle. With stunning views and plenty of wildlife spotting opportunities, it provides a calming backdrop for Ridley when he isn't helping the force to solve crimes.
Heaton Hall, Manchester
The Grade I-listed Georgian house is used in the third episode, where Ridley and the team solve a murder at an illegal rave. Now owned by Manchester City Council, the Hall and surrounding parkland is open to the public at certain times of the year.
