Feel good and do good with a charity walk this year

1. Walk Ben Nevis by moonlight for Macmillan Cancer Support


When: Saturday 11th July

Where: Scotland

Difficulty: Tough

Registration Fee: £50

Minimum Sponsorship: £375

If you’re feeling brave and looking for a magical (if gruelling) challenge, Macmillan might have the perfect walk for you: conquering the highest mountain in the British Isles by moonlight. Keen walkers will set off up Lochan Meall at sunset and navigate using only torches and the light of the full moon, reaching the peak in time for the reward of a glorious sunrise and panoramic views over the hills. 

2. Tackle Hadrian’s Wall for The British Heart Foundation


When: Sunday 26th April

Where: Hadrian’s Wall

Difficulty: Moderate

Registration Fee: £25

Minimum Sponsorship: £100

Take part on your own, or as team and tackle nine miles along the most challenging section of the historic Hadrian’s Wall to fight the good fight against heart disease. You’ll be so entranced by the glorious scenery and fascinating history of this ancient landmark, proudly standing since AD122, that you might not notice your legs burning. 

3. Go the distance in London for Prostate Cancer UK


When: Saturday 12 September – Sunday 13 September 2015

Where: London

Difficulty: Optional

Registration Fee:  25K- £35, 50K – £60, 100K – £85

Minimum Sponsorship: 25K- £145, 50K – £275, 100K – £400

Starting near Putney Bridge, this is an epic endurance walk against the clock following the unique and beautiful Thames Path National Trail. Intrepid walkers will attempt to walk the knackering 100km all the way to Henley in 24 hours, but a 50km and 25km route are also available. 

4. Trek the glorious Peak District for Water Aid


When: Saturday 11 July 2015

Where: Peak District

Difficulty: Varied

Registration Fee:  £25 per person

Minimum Sponsorship: £22 per person

Take on the Severn Trent Mountain Challenge and walk 10, 20 or 30 miles in the glorious Peak District to help Water Aid’s work around the world. Teams will set off from Hope Valley College and stride across the Dark Peak area, enjoying spectacular views and exhilarating inclines before descending back through Edale to the college for refreshments and prizegiving.

5. Take a right royal family ramble for Marie Curie


When: Saturday 15 August 2015

Where: Norfolk

Difficulty: Easy

Registration Fee:  £10

Minimum Sponsorship: £100 


Take this evening 10k walk with family and friends and enjoy exclusive views of Sandringham, the Norfolk retreat of Her Majesty the Queen, which lies within this coastal area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. After completing the walk, settle down and enjoy the festival-like celebrations taking place, with live music, entertainment and the Walk Ten fireworks at 10pm.
