Series four of the nail-biting (and often back-stabbing) BBC TV show, The Traitors, is back. And this time, there's a twist.

What is the The Traitors about?

The Traitors is the ultimate psychological reality TV game of trust and treachery. Filled with strategy, deception, and drama it is compelling viewing. The show brings together a group of 22 contestants who live and compete in a secluded location, often a grand and atmospheric estate or castle.

In order to win, each contestant navigate a series of challenges to win a substantial cash prize of up to £120k.

Series four introduced a new spin on the much-loved format: as well as three initial Traitors, a Secret Traitor has been selected. But nobody – not even the Traitors and the viewers – knows who they are.

Who hosts The Traitors?

The TV series The Traitors has been hosted by television presenter Claudia Winkleman since 2022. She also hosted the popular BBC shows Strictly Come Dancing and The Great British Sewing Bee.

Where is The Traitors filmed?

The hit TV series The Traitors is primarily filmed at Ardross Castle, a stunning 19th-century estate located about 25 miles north of Inverness in the Scottish Highlands.

Surrounded by over 100 acres of lush parkland along the River Alness, the castle serves as the central location for the show’s gripping drama.

The production team incorporates nearby scenic locations to enrich the show’s atmosphere. One notable spot is Loch Glass, just outside the Ardross Estate, which provides a breathtaking backdrop for select scenes.

Where is The Celebrity Traitors filmed?

The Celebrity Traitors is also filmed at Ardross Castle.

Where do the contestants stay?

According to reports, while Ardross Castle is at the heart of the show, contestants do not stay overnight on the property. Instead, they are housed at the more humble setting of the Courtyard by Marriott near Inverness Airport. This setup preserves the castle’s exclusivity for the series’ events, maintaining its allure and mystique.

Can you visit Ardross Castle?

Beyond its role in The Traitors, Ardross Castle is renowned for its rich history and historic architecture. The estate doubles as a sought-after venue for weddings and events.

While Ardross Castle itself might not be open for general tourism, the surrounding area in the Scottish Highlands is well worth a visit.

How can I watch The Traitors?

The fourth series of The Traitors is now on BBC One and available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
