Recent stormy weather has seen numerous records broken – "December 2013 turned out to be the stormiest December in the Met Office's records, which began in 1969. It was also one of the windiest calendar months for the UK since January 1993

January 2014 has thus far continued that trend, and the state of some of the country's coasts and rivers are testament to that."(See BBC Weather).

Many experts say that we can expect to see more such extreme weather as a result of man-made climate change. Others say that what we are experiencing is merely bad storms – typical of winter.
