Billows of white and pink petals have been blooming on fruit trees as early as January due to the mild winter, but it’s the spring months that herald prime blossom time, especially in the orchard-rich landscapes of Kent.

Brogdale Farm is typical of Kentish orchards this time of year, and is home to the National Fruit Collection – over 4,000 varieties of fruit, including apples, plums, cherries, cobnuts and quinces.

Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic and walk among the gnarled trees that are heavy with blossom in spring. Brogdale runs tractor trailor rides, guided and self-guided walking tours of their orchards from April to October.

Brogdale also runs courses throughout the year in pruning, cookery and how to plan your own fruit garden.
